Never Give Up on Persistent Prayer

“Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.” – Acts 10:4

The problem with our human condition is that we often doubt the spiritual realities of the power of prayer. When we pray, there is a credit issued to our account of faith in the spiritual realm. Heaven takes record of every prayer and every word we utter. Your prayers are not in vain.

Every prayer matters.

When we pray persistently, we develop history with God. Heaven has the receipts, and eventually your prayers add up to a tipping point, and God moves.

You may be feeling discouraged right now because you have been praying for years for God to move, and you are growing weary. Perhaps you’re praying for the salvation of a loved one or deliverance from addiction, but the prayers have gone on for years with seemingly no answer. Or maybe what you’re asking God for seems impossible. The person you’re praying for has cancer and needs a miracle, or they’re in a coma, and all odds seem stacked against you.

Keep praying. Every prayer goes on record, and God sees your faithfulness.

In Acts 10, we see Cornelius, a Roman centurion, persistently prayed and made offerings. Eventually, his prayers reached a tipping point, and he had a vision of an angel. The angel told him, “Cornelius, your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.”

That phrase “memorial” means there is an account and a record of the prayers and offerings that Cornelius made. God took note of them and responded by sending Peter to baptize him as one of the first Gentiles to respond to the Gospel.

If only we could have eyes to see in the Spirit, we would probably see memorials of prayers and offerings we’ve made to the Lord. It would encourage us to pray more fervently and with greater faith and assurance that God will respond to what we pray for.

In the kingdom of God, persistence in prayer isn’t about wearing God down—it’s about building your faith and creating a memorial before Him that cannot be ignored. Your prayers are connecting you with God’s heart in the spiritual realm and He reveals to you what will eventually manifest in the natural.

Don’t give up. Your breakthrough may be just one prayer away.
